In C:/program files/18 wos Pedal To The Metal, folder u will see a file called base.scs. Rename that file to base.zip, then go to my documents and create a folder called base, and extract the contents to that folder. Once that is done just copy n paste the contents to your my documents 18 wos directory.
I would keep a back up copy of the base file when its called base.scs
Hope thats helped u out a bit.

Do I only need to ever do it once? Also, I have played the game several times but still have not done it - have I messed up? I have not yet installed any mods.
In the 18WOSPTTM folder, it already has the following folders:
maps music saves screenshots config.cfg controls.def

Right - I unzipped the base.scs file and the patch.scs files as instructed. I also installed some new lorries but I don't seem to be able to drive them. How do you just select a truck and triler of your choise and drive?

If you are still a company driver you need to gain silver star status to unlock the self employed mode, then you can buy the trucks from the dealers that you have unlocked by visiting them.
The trailers can be picked up at any of the company depots or you can go into planning & select a particular cargo, as long as you have the necessary star rating to do so.
Or you could just add the cheat codes.

That'll get expensive to buy all these fabulous add-ons! How come some people have so many? They must be driving 24/7 to be able to afford them all.

Such is life. The harder you work the more you can buy, or should that be the more the tax man can screw you for? ;D
Pick the best paying jobs you will soon have enough.

Can you buy several and then choose which you want to drive for a job, or do you only have the option of only owning one vehicle and have to trade each time you want to drive a different lorry?

When you get to the company boss stage you can have more than 1 truck, each new truck will have to be assigned to another driver, but you can swap with those drivers, load star rating & location permitting.

What do you have to do in company boss stage? Looks similar to Owner-Op.

Owner operator, you have your own rig, which only gets upgraded when you decide, you then have the choice of which cargo's you wish to haul (star rating permitted) but you cannot hire any other drivers.
Company Boss, you can hire & fire drivers as well as the above.

Thanks for that Radar. You've been very kind and well mannered, considering you've probably heard these questions a million times before.
BTW: Does anyone know if Bulldog's Truck Shop is returning? There were many good looking lorries on there but I never got round to downloading them and his site is down at the moment. Now I am an owner-operator, I was thinking of reskinning a lorry into a ficticous livery with my name on and using that once I have earned enough money to buy it.

Not sure if Bulldogs will return, there are some people out there that out of jealousy or pure malice keep hacking into his & Wildrose's site, i and i think that he has just about had enough of rebuilding his site time & time again.
Shame for all of us because the Truckshop is the best.
Good to know that you are going to have a go at doing your own skins for PTTM, check out the tutorials section for any hints or tips that you may need + if using photoshop i have added a link to download the paint templates.
