Using a DDS Converter First you need a converter. This is the one I use and will be used in this tute: www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/The download is at the bottom of the page. Open the converter and select your paint program. click on file and select "open". find the dds you want to convert. For this tute we will use the "glass" dryvan trailer. Click my documents, 18 WoS Pedal to the Metal, makes, trailer, dryvan, share and find the "glass.dds" file. Now click on "send to editor" NOTE: Some dds files come with a lighter colored alpha channel that gives the skin a "shiny" look. As I, some people don't like this so I'll show you haw to fix that. While you have the original dds on the screen, look in the upper right-hand corner and find the alpha channel and click on send to editor. "You have to do this whether you paint it or not!" Now paint the area thats white, black, and save it somewhere. We will come back to this later. After you are done skinning click on file and select "open" as you did before and find you're skin. Now in the upper right-hand corner, click on "import alpha channel" Go to wherever you put you're alpha channel from before and select it. I have a folder that I named "skinning templates" where I keep all my alpha channels and skins I use for edits. Now click on file, highlight "save as" and select "dds texture" Make sure to change this to a dds with an alpha channel (I use dds 5) and save it to wherever you like. Thats it. If you have any questions just post them here. Happy Skinning, Double E
